# OnlyFans Age Verification: How It Works for Creators and Fans

> How OnlyFans age verification works: the ID and selfies creators submit, 45-day selfie checks, fan checks by location, and what happens to your data.

- OnlyFans requires everyone to be 18 or older. Creators submit at least 9 pieces of information, including a government photo ID, a standalone selfie and a selfie holding the ID.
- Verification continues after approval: every creator account faces selfie checks on a rolling 45-day cycle, and a failed check locks the account and hides its content until reviewed.
- OnlyFans publishes no review time for applications. Poor-quality selfies or ID photos, expired ID, unsupported payout countries and private social accounts are the common rejection reasons.
- OnlyFans says it does not sell or reuse verification data, and a third-party provider handles the face match. Submit your ID only inside the official account flow, never by email or DM.

Yes, OnlyFans requires age verification for everyone. Creators must pass an ID and selfie check before they can post, and then pass repeat selfie checks on a rolling 45-day cycle. Fans must be 18 or older and, depending on where they live, may have to complete extra age checks before they can see explicit content.

Every rule below is quoted from OnlyFans' own pages: the [Safety and Transparency Center](https://onlyfans.com/transparency-center/verification), the [Terms of Use](https://onlyfans.com/terms) (last updated October 2026), the [Privacy Policy](https://onlyfans.com/privacy) (last updated June 2026), the Help Centre and the [Creator Center](https://blog.onlyfans.com/creator-center/). All were read on 5 October 2026. Policies change, so check them before you apply.

## Who has to verify on OnlyFans

Everyone does, on both sides of the platform. The Transparency Center says:

> You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and access content on OnlyFans as a Fan or as a Creator.

What differs is how much each side has to prove. A creator goes through full identity verification. A fan's checks depend on the country they live in. The Help Centre page [Why am I being asked to prove I am over 18?](https://onlyfans.com/help/258/259/261) says the information "may vary depending on where you live."

## What OnlyFans asks creators for

The Transparency Center lists what a creator must hand over before posting anything:

> a Creator must provide at least 9 pieces of personally identifying information and documents before they can post content on OnlyFans, including: full name; verified email address; postal address; date of birth; valid government photo ID; standalone selfie; selfie while holding their photo ID; social media account handles; bank account information; tax information (as required by law)

The Terms of Use say the same thing in shorter form. To open a creator account you must:

> Upload a valid form of ID and two photos of you and complete identity verification as described in our Privacy Policy

The Transparency Center lists two selfies: one of your face alone and one of you holding your ID. The Creator Center's shorter list asks for a photo of the ID and one of you holding it. Be ready for both selfies.

Under the Terms, OnlyFans may also check that a creator's bank and payment details "are consistent with the identity verification information provided by the Creator." The money goes to the person who passed the ID check.

## The OnlyFans verification process, step by step

The Creator Center describes these steps:

1. **Sign up as a fan.** The Help Centre page [How do I open a Creator account?](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/197/198) says you "will first need to register as a Fan and then complete the additional Creator Onboarding Process."
2. **Choose "Become a creator".** It sits in your profile settings. Select your country of residence.
3. **Fill in the form.** Use the information exactly as it appears on your ID card, driver's license or passport.
4. **Upload the photos.** The Creator Center asks for "one clear photo of your ID, and one of you holding your ID".
5. **Add payout details.** Bank account and tax documents, including a W-9 Form for creators in the US.
6. **Wait for the email.** OnlyFans emails you when the application is approved.

Before step 2, check that you can be a creator where you live. The Help Centre says [OnlyFans is not available in some countries](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/197/201). Once you have a fan account, the current list of supported countries appears in the Add Bank section of your profile.

## OnlyFans verification review time

OnlyFans does not publish a review time. None of the OnlyFans pages linked here gives a number of hours or days. Any figure you see elsewhere is someone's experience, not an OnlyFans commitment.

What OnlyFans does describe is who reviews your application:

> OnlyFans has a dedicated team which is responsible for reviewing and approving, or rejecting account applications ... This process combines human judgement with OnlyFans' in-house technology and trusted third party verification tools.

## Why OnlyFans rejects creator applications

The Help Centre page [Why was my Creator account application rejected?](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/197/202) lists the most common reasons:

- poor quality selfies
- poor quality photographs of your ID documents
- expired, invalid or damaged ID documents
- OnlyFans is unable to make payouts in your country of residence
- your other social media accounts are set to private

It also reserves the right to say no without a reason: "OnlyFans may reject an application for a creator account at any time and for any reason."

Some people [cannot apply at all](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/197/204): anyone under 18, anyone in a country where OnlyFans cannot support payments, and anyone who "previously had an OnlyFans account and have violated our Terms of Service."

So use a current, undamaged ID, take the photos in good light, match the form to the ID exactly, and set the social accounts you list to public.

## Selfie checks after approval

Verification continues after approval. The Transparency Center says:

> All Creator accounts are subject to secondary "selfie checks" on a rolling 45-day cycle, and there are additional cross-checks of Creator accounts. We may impose additional checks in high-risk jurisdictions or where an account has been flagged for additional security requirements.

The Terms back this up. A creator must "Submit additional age, identity or account verification information any time we ask for it."

Failing a selfie check has immediate effects:

> If a Creator fails a "selfie check," the relevant account cannot be accessed, and any relevant content is removed from view. The account is reviewed by our team of trained moderators and appropriate action will be taken, such as seeking additional ID documents, suspending or terminating an account, or banning an IP address. If the issue is resolved, the Creator account will be fully reinstated.

OnlyFans does not state the purpose, but a recurring selfie matched to the verified ID checks that the same person is still behind the account.

## Verifying people who appear in your content

Anyone else in explicit content has to be verified too. The [Acceptable Use Policy](https://onlyfans.com/acceptable-use-policy) prohibits content featuring:

> anyone in explicit content who is over the age of 18 and who has not completed our Creator onboarding process or provided us with a properly completed release form.

The Help Centre page [Can I post content featuring someone else on OnlyFans?](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/205/210) gives three ways to meet this:

1. Tag them if they are already a verified OnlyFans creator.
2. Ask them to open an OnlyFans account if they do not have one.
3. If they do not want a creator account, send them a verification invitation. You create it with the "Create new invitation link" option on the release forms page inside your creator account. They verify their age and identity and agree to the Terms.

The Creator Center adds that the content is posted only after the verification has been checked. The same Help Centre page sets a limit: "the majority of the content must feature the Creator who opened the account."

## Age verification for fans

Fans skip the creator process but not the age check. The Transparency Center says:

> Depending on where they live, Fans may have to provide various personally identifying information, confirmations, payments details, and/or complete third party age estimation/verification checks to view explicit media content on OnlyFans.

The Terms say that, depending on where you live, OnlyFans may use "additional age assurance measures ... including third-party service providers" to check that users meet the minimum age.

The Privacy Policy names the methods. For certain locations, a third party may run "Email Address Age Estimation", which checks websites and apps where you have used your email address. If that fails or is not allowed where you live, you may be asked for "Facial Age Estimation" from a short selfie. If an estimate wrongly puts you under the threshold, you may be offered full ID verification instead.

The laws behind these checks differ by place:

- **United Kingdom.** The [Online Safety Act 2023](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2023/50/section/12) requires covered user-to-user services to use age verification or estimation that is "highly effective at correctly determining whether or not a particular user is a child." [Section 61](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2023/50/section/61) puts pornographic content in scope.
- **United States.** On 27 June 2025 the Supreme Court upheld Texas's law, H.B. 1181, in [Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton](https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24pdf/23-1122_3e04.pdf). That law requires covered sites to verify that visitors are 18 or older, using government-issued ID or transactional data, either directly or through a third-party service.

## How OnlyFans handles your ID data

OnlyFans makes one specific promise about the data:

> OnlyFans does not monetize, sell, or use age and identity verification information for any other purpose.

The [Privacy Policy](https://onlyfans.com/privacy) explains who handles the face match. A third-party provider takes a short selfie clip and a photo of your ID, then "uses Face Recognition Data to match the two images." OnlyFans says it does not hold that data:

> Face Recognition Data is collected by and remains with our third-party provider. We do not ourselves collect, receive, possess, or have access to Face Recognition Data at any time.

For later re-checks, the provider "may retain Face Recognition Data" so you need not upload your ID again, and you can withdraw consent to that. Identity record keeping in certain locations can mean retention of "up to 7 years".

The bigger practical risk is handing your ID to someone who is not OnlyFans. A few rules keep you safe:

- **Submit ID only inside the official flow.** Go to onlyfans.com yourself, log in, and use the "Become a creator" form. Do not follow a link from a message to get there.
- **Never send ID photos by email, DM or chat.** Verification happens in the account flow.
- **Treat "verification help" offers as a red flag.** Anyone offering to verify an account for you is asking for your identity documents.

## What verification means for agencies and AI content

The Terms require "two photos of you", and the selfie checks repeat every 45 days. An agency can help with content and operations, but it cannot verify on a creator's behalf. The creator has to pass every check personally.

The same rule shapes what AI content is allowed. The Help Centre page [Can I post AI content on OnlyFans?](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/205/211) starts with: "All content posted on OnlyFans must belong to a verified Creator." The October 2026 [Terms of Use](https://onlyfans.com/terms) say AI content can be shared only if:

> it clearly features the verified Creator; a User can clearly tell that the Content is AI Generated Content with a signifier such as #ai, or #AIGenerated; and it is in keeping with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

The Help Centre page on [what content you can post](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/205/206) goes further. It lists content that "features a creator whose identity we cannot verify, including accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated, or features heavily altered images" as not allowed.

A fully AI persona cannot pass verification: there is no real person to match the ID and selfies. Verifying yourself and then posting a persona does not work either. The Terms only allow AI content that "clearly features the verified Creator", and the Help Centre lists accounts that are "wholly AI-generated" as not allowed. AI content of you, the verified creator, is fine with a label.

If you run a fully AI persona, look at platforms that allow it. Fanvue [describes AI creators](https://help.fanvue.com/en/articles/14290142-how-do-i-know-if-a-creator-is-ai) as "a fully recognised and verified category" and says "Every AI creator account goes through the same verification process as human creators." Its [AI content article](https://help.fanvue.com/en/articles/9538738-is-ai-content-allowed-on-fanvue) says the AI disclosure "must be clear and prominent" and "may be displayed on the profile bio, content caption, or as a watermark on the media itself."

MYM allows AI content labelled "Virtual Image", #AI or #AIgenerated, and applies an "AI profile" badge, according to its [AI content article](https://support.mym.fans/hc/en-us/articles/14997634314524-AI-Generated-Content-on-MYM-What-You-Need-to-Know). Fansly is not an option for photorealistic AI: its [help article](https://help.fansly.com/en/articles/12315578-ai-generated-content-on-fansly) says "Photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed on Fansly." Our guide on [how to create an AI influencer](/how-to-create-an-ai-influencer) covers building a persona from scratch.

Consent works the same way. A face in AI content must be the verified creator's own, or belong to someone whose consent you can prove. The Acceptable Use Policy bans "Any explicit image of another person without their consent including an artificially generated image." Our [face swap page](/ai-face-swap) and [Terms of Use](/terms) apply the same rule.

## Where FansCreator fits

FansCreator does not touch OnlyFans verification. You verify on OnlyFans yourself, and you post yourself.

What it does is the content side. A verified creator can upload their own reference photos and generate images and video that keep the same face and body in every set. For video, see [how to keep one face across AI video clips](/blog/keep-one-face-across-ai-video-clips). You download the files, add #ai or #AIGenerated to the caption, and post from your verified account. That keeps it inside the rule that AI content "clearly features the verified Creator."

If you are still setting up, read [how to make money on OnlyFans](/blog/how-to-make-money-on-onlyfans) next, or start on the free plan once your account is verified.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does OnlyFans require age verification?

Yes. Everyone must be at least 18 to create an account or view content. Creators go through full ID and selfie verification before posting. Fans may have to complete extra age checks, including third-party age estimation or verification, depending on where they live.

### How long does OnlyFans verification take?

OnlyFans does not publish a review time on any of its own pages. A dedicated team reviews each application using human judgement, in-house technology and third-party verification tools, and you get an email when it is approved. Clear photos and a valid, undamaged ID avoid the most common reasons for rejection.

### What is the OnlyFans selfie check?

After approval, every creator account is subject to secondary selfie checks on a rolling 45-day cycle. If a creator fails one, the account cannot be accessed and its content is removed from view while moderators review it. If the issue is resolved, the account is fully reinstated.

### Is OnlyFans ID verification safe?

OnlyFans states that it does not monetize, sell, or use age and identity verification information for any other purpose. Its Privacy Policy says the face match is done by a third-party provider and that OnlyFans does not collect or access the Face Recognition Data. The main practical risk is sending your ID to someone else, so submit documents only inside the official creator form on onlyfans.com and never by email, chat or DM.

### Can an AI model pass OnlyFans verification?

No. OnlyFans requires a real person's ID and selfies, and its Help Centre lists accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated as not allowed. Verifying yourself and then posting a persona does not work either: AI content is allowed only if it clearly features the verified creator and is labelled, for example with #ai or #AIGenerated. Fully AI personas belong on platforms that allow them, such as Fanvue or MYM, with their AI labels.
