- OnlyFans does not publish how it detects AI images. Its Terms say reviews may use classifiers and AI and machine learning tools, and its Help Centre says all content, including direct messages, can be moderated.
- Since October 2026, AI content is allowed only if it clearly features the verified creator and carries a label such as #ai or #AIGenerated, so a compliant AI image has nothing to hide.
- Some generators embed provenance data such as C2PA metadata or watermarks, but metadata can be removed by editing or converting a file. Removing it does not make unlabelled AI content allowed.
- A fully AI persona breaks the OnlyFans rules whether or not anything detects it. Fanvue and MYM allow AI creators with clear labels.

OnlyFans does not say exactly how it spots AI images. It does say that it reviews content with human moderators and with "classifiers, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning-enabled tools", and that every post and direct message can be moderated. The more useful question is what the rules allow: since October 2026, an AI generated photo is allowed only if it clearly features the verified creator and is labelled as AI.

Everything OnlyFans says below is quoted from its Terms of Use (last updated October 2026), its Help Centre and its Safety and Transparency Center, read on 5 October 2026.

## What OnlyFans says about how it reviews content

Three official statements describe how OnlyFans checks what creators upload.

**Automated tools.** The [Terms of Use](https://onlyfans.com/terms) say OnlyFans reserves the right to review content "with technology tools such as classifiers, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning-enabled tools to detect and remove Content that violates our policies."

**Human moderation of everything.** The Help Centre page on [what content you can post](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/205/206) says "All content posted on OnlyFans can be moderated by our team, including direct messages between you and your fans."

**Repeated identity checks.** The [Safety and Transparency Center](https://onlyfans.com/transparency-center/verification) says "OnlyFans uses a combination of technology and human moderation to verify the age and identity of Creators" and that "All Creator accounts are subject to secondary "selfie checks" on a rolling 45-day cycle." If a creator fails one, "the relevant account cannot be accessed, and any relevant content is removed from view."

## What OnlyFans does not say

OnlyFans has not published which technical signals its tools look for. It has not said whether it reads EXIF data, C2PA credentials or watermarks, or whether it compares every upload with a creator's verification selfies.

You will find articles that describe all of this in detail. An earlier version of this post repeated such claims from third-party sites. We removed them because we could not trace any of them to OnlyFans itself. Treat confident descriptions of OnlyFans' detection pipeline with the same caution.

## What an AI generated photo can carry

Detection is not only about what a platform does. It also depends on what the file carries. Some AI image tools add provenance signals on purpose.

OpenAI's [content provenance guide](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/content-provenance) describes two kinds. C2PA is "Signed metadata with issuer and AI-use details". A watermark is "embedded directly in supported media" and "may survive some transformations". The same guide notes that "Editing, converting, or sharing a file can remove its metadata."

So a file may or may not carry a signal, and a platform may or may not read it. That uncertainty is exactly why detection is the wrong thing to plan around. Removing metadata does not make an unlabelled AI image allowed. The rule is about disclosure, not about getting caught.

## What the October 2026 rules require

The AI rule in the [Terms of Use](https://onlyfans.com/terms) reads:

> AI Generated Content: You can only share Content that has been generated, altered, or enhanced by artificial intelligence ("AI Generated Content") if: it clearly features the verified Creator; a User can clearly tell that the Content is AI Generated Content with a signifier such as #ai, or #AIGenerated; and it is in keeping with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

The Help Centre article [Can I post AI content on OnlyFans?](https://onlyfans.com/help/196/205/211) adds that "All content posted on OnlyFans must belong to a verified Creator" and that breaking these guidelines puts "your content, and your account" at risk of deactivation.

The content moderation page lists what cannot be shared, including content that:

> features a creator whose identity we cannot verify, including accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated, or features heavily altered images

## Why detection is the wrong question

A compliant AI image on OnlyFans is labelled. Its whole point is that fans can tell it is AI. If you are asking whether OnlyFans can detect an image, the honest follow-up is why you would want it not to.

| Situation | Does detection matter? | What the rules say |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| AI photo of you, labelled #ai | No, you already disclosed it | Allowed |
| AI photo of you, no label | Yes, and so does any fan report | Breaks the Terms |
| AI photo edited until you are unrecognisable | Yes | "heavily altered images" can be removed |
| An AI persona who is not you | Not really, it fails the rule either way | "wholly AI-generated" accounts and content can be removed |
| Someone else's face, real or swapped | Not really, it fails the rule either way | Prohibited without verified consent |

## How to make AI content of yourself that passes review

**Train on your own originals.** The October 2026 Terms say you may not "use Content or Direct Services to train or enhance any software, machine learning or artificial intelligence system." Build your AI model from photos on your own phone or computer, not from anything downloaded from OnlyFans.

**Stay recognisable.** Your AI content should look like the person OnlyFans verified. Keep your real face shape, skin tone and distinctive marks.

**Label everything AI touched.** The Terms cover content "generated, altered, or enhanced" by AI. That includes retouching. Put #ai or #AIGenerated in the caption of posts and paid messages.

**Keep other people out unless they are verified.** Anyone else who appears in explicit content has to be verified through OnlyFans' own process, AI-generated or not.

## If you want a fully AI creator

An original AI persona cannot go on OnlyFans, however good the images are. Other platforms allow it with conditions:

- [Fanvue](https://help.fanvue.com/en/articles/9538738-is-ai-content-allowed-on-fanvue) allows "fully AI-generated content" with a "clear and prominent" disclosure in the bio, caption or as a watermark.
- [MYM](https://support.mym.fans/hc/en-us/articles/14997634314524-AI-Generated-Content-on-MYM-What-You-Need-to-Know) asks for "Virtual Image" in the description or the hashtags #AI or #AIgenerated, and adds an "AI profile" badge to the account.
- [Fansly](https://help.fansly.com/en/articles/12315578-ai-generated-content-on-fansly) says "Photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed on Fansly", even when labelled.

## Creating labelled AI content of yourself with FansCreator

FansCreator trains your AI model from reference photos you upload, which takes about three minutes, and keeps your face and body consistent across [NSFW AI images](/nsfw-ai-image-generator) and [AI video](/nsfw-ai-video-generator). The [uncensored AI image editor](/uncensored-ai-image-editor) handles fixes and retouching, and [AI face swap](/ai-face-swap) works with your own face or a face whose owner gave provable consent, as the FansCreator [Terms of Use](/terms) require.

You download every file and post it yourself, so adding the #ai label is part of your own upload routine.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does OnlyFans scan uploads for AI?

OnlyFans says its reviews may use classifiers and AI and machine learning tools to detect and remove content that breaks its policies. It does not publish which signals those tools look at.

### Can OnlyFans read EXIF or C2PA metadata?

OnlyFans has not said whether it reads file metadata. Some AI tools add C2PA metadata or watermarks, and OpenAI notes that editing, converting or sharing a file can remove metadata. None of this changes the rule that AI content must be labelled.

### Will OnlyFans ban me for posting AI photos of myself?

AI content of the verified creator is allowed when fans can tell it is AI, for example with #ai or #AIGenerated in the caption. The risk comes from unlabelled AI content, heavily altered images, or content that does not feature you.

### Is an AI model account allowed on OnlyFans if it is never detected?

No. The Help Centre lists accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated among the things that cannot be shared. Whether moderation catches it does not change that it breaks the Terms.
